PROPOSAL
Product distribution is very important in medium and large scale business or
companies. Manufacturers must decide on the best way to store, handle and move
good and services so that they are available to customers at high time and
place.
Therefore manufacturers typically need to employ the services of distribution
information system so that distribution effectiveness will have a major on
customers satisfaction and company costs.
This research work is a study of the distribution system of the Nigeria
Breweries Limited 9th mile corner Enugu. A handful of problems
was discovered because of the manual distribution in use in the company. This
has almost destroyed good efforts. I stressed the need for good distribution
and introduction the use of computers and the installation of distribution
information software system that will work with data transmission system
interconnected by telephone lines to the existing C.D. P system of a computer.
These is also a simple program in this work that will help the management of
the company to quickly transmit relevant information to the manufacturing plant
on receipt of a customer orders, so that they will be able to get their order
quickly.

INTRODUCTION
The rapid growth in technology have compelled man-kind to look inward finding
alternative means of accomplishing most his strenuous task.
This discovery in technology showed that the capabilities of a computer, an
electronic digital device has the ability to accept, process, store and output
data and information when needed with maximum speed and accuracy.
The recognition of distribution information system as a major management
function occurred with the rapid introduction of computers to the business
world. When a management has vision and freedom of operation to new business as
a totally, an entire approach staffing an methodology can be developed based on
the genuine capabilities of the computer and the role it plays in handling
information.
Therefore, by computerizing the stock and product distribution area of the
company; it will contribute to an overall effective and efficient performance
of the company by eliminating the problems encountered while using the manual
method of distribution.
1.1
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
After studying the present distribution system of the Nigeria Bottling company
PLC, I discovered a lot of problems as a result of its manual distribution
system. they are as follows.
(a)
Inability to meet customers emergency needs.
(b) Irregular
supplies, transportation made, plant houses and store locations.
Just as marketing concept is receiving increased recognition, business firms
are paying attention to the distribution concept. Distribution is an area of
potentially, high cost savings and improved customer satisfaction. When order
processors, warehouses, planners, managers and transportation manager make
decisions, they one another’s cost and ability to handle demand. Physical
distribution concept calls for treating all these decision within unified frame
work. The task is to design a distribution system that will minimize the total
cost of providing a desired customers services.
(c) Insufficient
drinks for customers of excessive drinks.
(d) Long hours of
search to get customers
(e) High
distribution costs.
(f) Time
wastage.
Due to the problems
mentioned above, there is need for computerization of the stock and product
distribution system for the NBC PLC so as to keep up to the present standard.
1.2
PURPOSE OF STUDY
One of the problem of the NBC PLC is inability to meet the needs or demands as
a result of their manual method of distribution.
The purpose of this study is to design a system that will be more efficient and
accurate in distribution processes. This will help the management in quick
processing of the order steps using on-line computers interconnected with
telephone lines. This will be able to transmit relevant information to the
computer located at the manufacturing plant to gain customers satisfaction.
1.3
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.
The aim of every manufacturing & distribution company is to maximize
customers services and at the same time maximize profits not sale. The
objective of this study is aimed computerizing the stock and product
distribution department of the Nigeria Bottling company plc so that it can
assist the managers to manage suppliers to final consumers.
1.4
SCOPE
These are many companies that produces drinks and for others to market, but
this study concentrates on the Nigeria Bottling company Enugu. Study is focused
on the distribution process of the company, it is led to distribution because
it is a department on its own and it will be to undertake through analysis of
this important department in the company.
1.6
ASSUMPTION
The researcher took it for granted that the information given the distribution
manager was true.
It is assumed that the company will readily accept the new system ring seen the
demerits of the old system.
It is equally assumed the customers will have access to leased for placement of
orders.
The researcher assumes that some of their worker will be laid off the computers
that will come with the new system will replace them. The remaining staff will
be trained so as to become computerization.
