This project work titled “Effective Decision making: an instrument for organizational efficiency” was carried out precisely to find out decision making in an organization with special regards to Guinness Nigeria Plc, Benin City, Edo State. The researcher used both primary and secondary methods of data collection such as questionnaire, internet, published materials etc. the chi-square and simple percentage method were also used to analyze the data collected. Based on the analysis and interpretation of data collected, the findings is that decision making is important to the organization. Business organizations require decision making in its management activities. Decision makers in the organization are not properly highlighted and management does not hold meetings regularly with employees for availability of proper and effective decision. Based on the findings the researcher make the recommendations that: Management should seek employees opinion before decisions are reached as this will help minimize grapevine information and that both management and employees should adopt decision making policy as matter of urgency, due to the delay involved in the process of carrying out effective decisions.

1.1 BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
The growth and development of the suavity results in man’s attempt or verge to research out to one another this attempts brought about what is refer to as decision making.
Decision making can simply be seen as the process of choosing a course of action from various alternative course of action giving a close look of this definition, one will observe that there are different and various course of action, but the decision maker is suspected to choose just one from the different alternative that are available. This is what prompted the researcher to write on the topic “effective decision making an instrument for organization efficiency” because many organization have in the previous years failed due to the fact that they were unable to take effective decision at that particular point in time and it is a well known fact that, without effective decision making an organization will not be efficient in its dealings.
The ethics of good business organization require so that it will run into a state of panic when it comes to the period of decision making. Decision making being one of the past measures used in making a business grow, then it is not working with the policies which objective when it is not working with the policies which are sped out by the organization or business owners.
Another major reason why the researcher is working on this topic is that decision making is not proper researcher work is not being carried out about it most business will find it difficult to carryout business activities effectively.
Decision making plays vital roles in any business organization its impact is essential to day to day today activities of the organization which not doubt are profit oriented. The ability to make good decision by corporate citizens has enable people to build societies, organizations and other social groups that made for continuous existence and better living.
However, most people fail to take decision effectively as a result of some problems, hence, decision making is a choice made response to certain needs or problems.
Decisions are made in all stages of life from the public sector for the private sector and so on. The administration of government policy and the implementation of public programmes are based on decision making. So the objective of decision making is to establish a common goal, giving of instrument, making of adjustment from the complain of people, keeping members to decide on event and policies, motivating and training are conditioned or determined by superiors’ abilities to decision of effective decision making.
Decision making can be viewed as the means by which management get things done, it is the general sense of belonging of all units and personal identification within the organization. The ultimate objective of decision making is that decision making seek to unit, coordinate and combine all undertakings, for instance, a superior may know how to decide the best way of doing it.
The researcher hope to achieve good conduct and effective decision making in business organization and also to improve effective decision making in business organization.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMS
Decision making is a very veritable tool that helps the organization to achieve its goals and objective. However, organization usually have problems in decision making that ultimately affect their organization’s strategies. In order words the type of decision adopted the organization are associated with the same problem that could hindered organization efficiency. This is the gap in knowledge the research attempt to fill.

1.4 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The effect of improper decision making, lack of implementation and proper follow up posses a great threat to both public and private sector to the economy.
1. To find out whether organization requires decision making in its management activities
2. To determine the extent of which delegations of activity is adequate in the organization.
3. To examine the extent to which management seeks employee opinion before taking decisions on issues that affect them.
1.5 RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
For the purpose of this study the following hypothesis were formulated:
Ho: Business organization does not require decision making in its management activities
Hi: Business organization require decision making in its management activities
Ho: There is no adequate delegation functions in the organization
Hi: There is adequate functions in the organization.
Ho: Management does not seek employees opinion before taking decision on issues that affect them
HI: Management seeks employee opinion before taking decision on issue that affect them.
1.6 SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY
The research will help organizations to:
Ø Find out the role of effective decision making in business organization
Ø It will also help organizations in improving their standard of decision as well as advance the knowledge of the students in area for future research in decision making.
1.7 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The area control in this research includes the following departments
Ø Administration Department
If proper and effective decision is not been made in these departments, then it will not be possible for the organization to achieve it set objective.
1.8 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
One of the major problem that affected this research was finance, Due to lack of funds the researcher could not go to some organization to achieve knowledge or source for information that would have the quality of this study/research.
Time factor was another problem faced by the researcher as time was not enough to get to the root of all assignment the collection of questionnaire posses problem as some respondents promised different dates and time making the study a more difficult exercise.
